Lexington County Solid Waste Management

Lexington County Solid Waste Management offers a multi-faceted field trip that can be customized especially for your class! Offered at the Edmund facility off SC 302, your class can see a working recycling/municipal solid waste collection station, oil recycling operation, transfer station and landfill. Especially beneficial when paired with a field trip to Paper Stock Dealers/Sonoco, a working materials recovery facility! Presentations are also available for teachers, students and other groups. Sonoco Recycling

Recycling conserves energy, protects natural resources, saves landfill space, reduces pollution and creates jobs in South Carolina. Tours are available at Sonoco Recycling in Columbia for students aged 4-104. See recycling in action, and learn about the wonderful products made from these recovered natural resources.
